| Sleepy Hollow Earth Month Festival & Green Horsemen Family Saturday |
![]() |
The warm weather of spring arrived right on time for a popular and productive Earth Month Festival and TUFSD Green Horseman Saturday on April 18th at Barnhardt Park.Neighbors enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared by TUFSD’s Scott Dorn and his crew. Hundreds of Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown residents visited tables representing more than 20 organizations and their eco-crafts.Some planted a pumpkin patch in the Sleepy Hollow Community Garden. Others took home seeds, plantings, free trees and more. The girl scouts taught us how to use nature to get rid of those pesky mosquitos. And then everyone bounced for joy in a Bouncy Castle hooked up to an electric generator – no nasty fumes or excessive noise to mar the fun. Maybe you can get a quiet castle for your next event.Sustainable Sleepy Hollow thanks our partners who helped us plan the event, especially Eddie Castro (TUFSD) and Diana Loja and Matt Arone (both Village of Sleepy Hollow). |

Greater Good, our top team led by Mayor Hsu and the BOT, came in 3rd overall. We can’t wait until next year – until then, some fun memories from the game! |

Celia did Yankee fans proud by calling foul on a discarded Red Sox ball.Ranger the Rescued Greyhound served as our mascot once again as new friends collected bags and bags of trash and recyclables.Join us on the second Saturday of each month through October for a one hour flash cleanup to keep the good work going.Sign up at bit.ly/SleepyFlash. |
| We Cleaned Up Beekman Pollinator Garden |
![]() |
We had a great time with the community caring for the Pollinator Garden across from Village Hall with local volunteers and landscaper Ryan Nuckle from Rose Water Garden Design. During this 3 hour event we thinned out flower plants, pruned various shrubs and trees, cleared away dead debris, and planted a variety of seeds in the front beds and surrounding tree pits. Participants went home with some new gardening knowledge as well as free seeds to plant at home! |
| We Gave Away a Ton of Compost |

We’re happy to report that our community is incorporating more compost into local gardens this year than ever before: TEAC & Sustainable Sleepy Hollow ordered an even huger compost delivery to the school parking lot to ensure we’d have enough for the Tarrytown community garden (at John Paulding School), Sleepy Hollow community garden (at Barnhart Park), and several of our TUFSD school campuses. We welcomed students from the high school’s environmental club (SPEAR) who shared seed bombs, and carried compost to nourish a new planted area on campus.Next year will be the 5th Annual 10591 Compost Giveback Day, and we’re already thinking about how to celebrate accordingly! In the meantime, enjoy these pictures of hard working neighbors who were all smiles at the compost pile. |
