Recycling: 

Batteries: These contain toxic materials that shouldn’t go in regular trash. Drop off locations include Moms Organic Market (Dobbs), Home Depot (rechargeable only), Lowe’s (rechargeable only), Staples and Best Buy.

Corks: Natural wine corks can be recycled into new products like flooring and craft materials through programs at retailers. Drop yours off at Grape Expectations (Tarrytown), who will mail them in batches to the Cork Collective or ReCork, or Moms Organic Market (Dobbs).

Electronics: Old phones, tablets, and gadgets contain valuable metals that can be recovered. Many manufacturers and retailers offer take-back programs. Drop off locations include: H-MRF Valhalla, Sleepy Hollow DPW collection, Best Buy, Staples.

Fabric / Textile Recycling (any condition): Green Tree Textiles – find bins at:

  • Losee Park (by compost bins)
  • Main St Tarrytown (inside vestibule at entrance to Trilogy Consignment)
  • TASH Farmer’s Market

 Ink cartridges: The plastic gets melted down and turned into new products like pens, mouse pads, and cups. Leftover toner becomes TonerPave, an innovative paving material. Metal components are processed for reuse, while remaining parts are combined to create eWood, a synthetic timber used for furniture, sheds, and fencing. Drop off locations include: Staples, Best Buy, and Office Depot ($2 redemptions). You can also mail them back to the manufacturer.

Plastic Bags and Plastic Film (dry cleaning bags; bread bags; packaging): Stop & Shop, Home Depot

Sunglasses: The frames and lenses can be refurbished and donated to people in need through organizations like Lions Club International. Drop off locations include: Lions Club (Drop off location in Croton or mail in), Mom’s market (Dobbs Ferry), LensCrafters (various locations)
