We’ll start the meeting with brief introductions. Then SHEAC and Climate Smart Task Force Co-chairs and project leaders will provide updates on topics discussed at the January meeting. (Use this link to access the meeting notes.) The balance of the meeting will be devoted to discussion of issues we want to address in 2023.
One of the topics we’ll be discussing is a waste reduction initiative. This is something SHEAC and CSC have already been pursuing with our food scraps collection project. Now the Board of Trustees has asked SHEAC to recommend ways for the Village to reduce plastic waste and take additional steps to send less trash to the incinerator in Peekskill. Diverting trash from the incinerator means less air pollution and greater cost savings for the Village.
2023 promises to be an exciting year for SHEAC and CSC, as we work together on a range of environmental issues and develop a robust communications strategy, to build awareness and draw more active participants to our work. We hope you’ll be able to join us for Monday’s meeting, in-person at Village Hall or via zoom. We look forward to hearing your ideas. And please consider inviting a friend to join us.
