We invite you to join us, on January 9th at 7:00 pm, as the Sleepy Hollow Environmental Advisory Committee (SHEAC) and the Climate Smart Communities Task Force (CSC) come together in person at Village Hall (28 Beekman Avenue) for our first meeting of 2023. You can also request a zoom link if you prefer.
The Co-chairs of SHEAC and CSC will report on the projects we’ve worked on in 2022, especially the Food Scraps campaign, turning leftovers into compost and reducing the amount of garbage that gets hauled to trash burners. At a recent “Pancakes with Santa” family event, a couple of volunteers had a great time teaching the student helpers what goes in the food scrap bins and what doesn’t.
The most important part of the January meeting will be the discussion of goals for 2023. We’ll talk about steps we might take to achieve Silver status as a Climate Smart Community and how best to spread the word about the importance of preserving the natural environment and reducing greenhouse gas emissions that accelerate the warming of the atmosphere.
We hope you’ll be able to join us on January 9th to share your thoughts about what we should focus on for 2023, and learn how you can take part throughout the year. If you’d like a zoom link to join the meeting, please send your request via email before noon on 1/9.
Stay well. Stay warm. And save those lovely food scraps!
The SHEAC Co-chairs: Anne White & Dave Avrin
The CSC Co-chairs: Sarah Smiley & Kirsten Hase-McLaughlin
